WHY DO WE NEED SPONSORS?

Every ticket is free. Sponsors make that possible.

Spotted a few sponsors in our comms lately?

Fair question: why do we need them?

Short answer: so anyone, from any background, can walk into a People Planet Pint and leave knowing something, and someone, new. Sponsorship goes into time to support hosts, build the network, and spread the word.

WHY FREE MATTERS

Put a price on the ticket and you change who turns up.

There's a room full of lovely people who care about the same things you do. You don't need to be an expert to join them.

You care about the climate. Maybe you've done what you can already: the solar panels, the electric car, the recycling. But it never comes up at work, and you'd rather not be the "green one" in the office.

So it's easy to wonder if you're the only one thinking about it.

You're not! Come along and you'll find ordinary people from ordinary jobs, all curious, all a bit relieved to be there. No networking, no activist handbook. Just a pint and a good chat.

And the ticket's free, because "not sure yet" is exactly who we want in the room.

Put a price on it and you change who turns up. A tenner isn't nothing if you're not sure this is your thing.

Think of us as the parkrun of sustainability: you don't need to be a marathon runner to join in.

Free for everyone. Whoever you are, wherever you work, however much you already know.

Somebody has to cover the costs of keeping it that way. That's where sponsors come in.

TRUE STORIES

Things that have already happened over a pint.

Real people, real locations, real things that started with a chat at the pub.

TRUE STORY · BRIGHTON

A chat at the pub became a speaking invitation.

Ed met Stu at a meetup. Months later Stu asked him to speak at the Green SEO event. Around 40 new people turned up.

Ed, Brighton

TRUE STORY · SHREWSBURY

A new place, a new network, a new career path.

Sarah moved to Shrewsbury and came along. She met the host, started working together, and went on to become a charity trustee.

TRUE STORY · KENDAL

A new contact became a client in four weeks.

Tim went along and met an in-house sustainability person struggling with carbon footprints. Four weeks later, they were a client.

THE SERENDIPITY ENGINE

You never know where a conversation will go. That's the magic of it.

None of these were planned. A speaking slot, a new career path, a client: each began with someone saying hello over a pint. That only works when anyone can walk in, which is why the ticket is free.

THE WIN-WIN-WIN

A loop where everyone gets something good.

Sponsors back the network. The network keeps every meetup free. Free meetups fill the room. And a full room is what sponsors came for.

A better future is possible today.

There are loads of businesses out there already doing good, and proving a better world is possible. But most are too busy doing the work to shout about it.

We're here to help tell their story. Sponsorship puts those businesses in front of people who'll care, and shows everyone in the room what a better way of doing business looks like.

WHERE IT GOES

What sponsorship pays for.

It all goes back into the network, so more people can find a room near them.

Free meetups, for everyone

Every general meetup stays free to attend, in every location it runs.

Hosts Community

Training, resources and support for the local hosts who run each meetup.

The tools and software

The website and event listings that help you find a meetup near you, and the software behind them. Our Eventbrite account, email marketing and technology all have monthly costs.

Time to tell stories

Updating event listings, social posts, next month's announcement emails: lots of small jobs go into a successful pub meetup that rarely get thought about. Sponsorship buys the time to do them well, so more stories get told.

New locations

Helping new hosts start up in towns, villages and cities that don't have a People Planet Pint yet.

Looking after sponsors

Introducing each sponsor properly to the room and keeping those relationships healthy, so it works for the business and for the people in it.

Building What's next

Building better ways to find a meetup near you and keep in touch with your local community.

Coming along? Nothing changes for you.

Sponsors are introduced to the room. It's a hello, not a pitch.

Your ticket stays free. Every meetup, every time.

Nobody will sell to you. The night is still about the conversation.

Partner offers are optional. They're there if you want them, and easy to ignore if you don't.

QUESTIONS

Still wondering?

Click a question to open it.

Will I be sold to at the pub?

No. A local sponsor gets an introduction to the room: a hello over a drink, from someone you can chat to afterwards if you like. It isn't a pitching slot, and nobody will push anything on you. Any offers are optional and easy to ignore.

Do I need to pay or sign up to come along?

No. Our general meetups are free, and they will always stay that way. If we ever run a special paid event, it will be clearly labelled and entirely optional. It will never replace the free meetups.

Why can't you just charge a small amount for tickets?

Because a small amount still changes who turns up. The people we most want in the room are the curious ones who aren't sure yet, and they're the first to stay home when there's a price tag. Free tickets keep the mix of people wide, and the mix is where the good conversations come from.

Where does the money go?

Straight back into the network: keeping meetups free, training and supporting hosts, the website and software that help you find a meetup, the admin and storytelling that keep it all running, and helping new hosts start up in new locations.

How do you choose sponsors?

We look for businesses doing real work to change their industry for the better, with no greenwashing and no fossil fuel money. Above all, they have to be good for the room: introduced, not pitched. The full list is further up this page.

Can my business sponsor?

Probably, yes. There are four ways in: local sponsorship for a single location, Partner for 12 months of coverage across the network, a dedicated email to our subscribers, or something bespoke built around your goals. See the options above, or get in touch and we'll point you to the right one.

Who's behind People Planet Pint?

It started with a pub meetup at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 and is now run by Small99 with local hosts in locations across the UK and beyond. Our belief is simple: a better future is possible today, and it starts at the pub.

Free for everyone. Backed by people who care.
